My 21st birthday was over a month ago and I’m so lucky to have a boyfriend that paid for me to go to Amsterdam.
It’s a place I’ve always wanted to visit, since I was like 8 I’ve had a love of history and I remember always being so interested in the Second World War and particularly the story of Anne Frank. So my birthday present was to visit the Anne Frank house in Amsterdam!
On the first day we mainly travelled down, we got the Eurostar and it wasn’t as horrific as I was expecting it to be, although I did nap on Matt. We arrived in Amsterdam around 2pm and went to our Airbnb, it was so cute and homely and the lady was lovely!
My boyfriend (with a hint or two from me) had organised for a ‘lovers canal cruise’. We spent 90 minutes seeing the sights of amsterdam, had some food. The besssssst burger I’ve tried in all honesty, miss it haha. It was such a lovely evening, such a romantic vibe. 10/10 would recommend for couples visiting Amsterdam – and if you aren’t going with a partner they do regular ones to!
Was v v hyped for our second day in Amsterdam because I got to visit the Anne Frank House, always said I would and I feel so lucky to have a boyfriend that organised this for me!
It was so surreal walking around, we were given audio pieces to carry around with us that gave an overview of the family, their life and what the rooms we were standing in would have been.
For the remainder of our day we visited the sex museum – of course my boyfriend had to get a picture in there, not going to post it though:’)
I booked a table for us at the Hard Rock Cafe, id never actually been to one before but the food was super nice and although it was like half 8 and I was cranky and hungry it was a lovely evening.
I would love to go back and see some more of Amsterdam and visit places we didn’t get chance to. But I had a great time!
Have you ever been to Amsterdam? What did you think of it?
